Bedding with a duvet covering can make a bed very beautiful instantly. A duvet (due-vay) is a soft flat bag type of bedding. This is called a duvet cover. It’s a protective cover for a duvet comforter that is filled with material like down, feather, cotton or wool. Duvets are not only protectors for a comforter, but can give you the ability to change the look of your bedroom regularly and without having to buy a new bulky comforter. They come in a variety of fabrics, colors and designs. What’s usually done, for example, is to purchase a white goose down comforter and to cover it, you would put on a duvet (cover).
The duvet also protects the comforter from staining. A duvet set can provide a new look to the bed when you get bored with the plain white color of the down comforter. In Europe, a very common form of bedding is a duvet. Which actually is original to Europe. After you put on your sheets, you can then just throw on the duvet cover set. You may even want to add a blanket, especially if you live in a cold region. Duvet’s come with zipper or button closures. The cover can be removed and cleaned (laundered) as often as you would clean your sheets. As most covers can be machine washed. Unlike a comforter which is too bulky for your home washing machine. So we tend to limit cleaning it as most times it needs to be professionally dry cleaned. This can be expensive/pricey.
There are many ways to put on a duvet. YouTube has several demonstrations available. And once you figure out the best way to put a duvet cover on and how easy it is, you will be pleased.
Now that spring is here, you can take off those winter blankets (for all you mid-westerners and east coasters) then cover the bed sheets with a very light goose down comforter covered with a spring designed duvet, like a soft green puckered textured striped design on your bed. It’s just so versatile to have a duvet cover and its a nice change. Once you experience the comfort of an organic cotton duvet (or whatever fabric you like) and the convenience of an easy different look, you won’t want to turn back to big bulky comforters.
Can you now just envision your new bed. Isn’t it lovely?
